The ink is not even dry on Ingram Micro's acquisition of its affiliate Electronic Resources Australia (ERA) (ARN Jan 20, page 1) and it is back on with Intel, effective immediately.
This is less than six months after the chip giant dumped the now Ingram-owned distributor in Australia.
Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific president Greg Spierkel told ARN that Intel took another look at the marketplace and decided that there was room and an opportunity for a fourth distributor.
In an apparent replacement for ERA, Intel in November appointed Todaytech as its third chip distributor. Its other Australian distributors are Tech Pacific and Synnex.
Intel national sales manager Archie Wilson confirmed the reappointment of ERA.
