Four Australian channel partners of Computer Associates (CA) have been awarded gongs at the software vendor’s CA World event in Las Vegas.
Data#3, Express Data, Volante and Fujitsu were among 27 worldwide partners picking up awards.
Data#3 was recognised as Australia/New Zealand partner of the year for the eTrust range of security products; Express Data won distributor of the year; Volante was crowned partner of the year for Brightstor storage products; and Fujitsu took out enterprise partner of the year.
“This award is recognition of how well we partner with a leading solution provider,” Volante managing director, Hugh Bickerstaff, said. “These guys [CA] make great technology but it is our job to take it out into the field.”
Bickerstaff could barely contain his disappointment at missing out on a trip to Vegas.
“It’s pretty busy at this time of year but they didn’t even invite me,” he joked.
Fujitsu general manager of Professional Services, Alan Lowe, did get to Vegas to collect his award and attended CA World during the week he was there.
“I’ve been to Vegas before,” Lowe said. “I’m not a gambler but you can still have some fun there.
“It’s important from our point of view to receive recognition for the effort we have put in. The two companies are a long way down the path and have the partnership working well.”
Fujitsu was also awarded CA enterprise partner of the year for Europe.
Product marketing manager for Express Data, Vanessa Griffin, also attended to pick up her company’s award.
“We have been partners for seven years or more and I think this award recognises the fact that we have been working together for a long time,” Express Data software marketing manager, Donna Adam.
Express Data has now won CA distributor of the year four times, retaining the title from last year.
“This year’s channel partner awards recognise the achievements of companies that, despite the choppy economic waters, have proven to be inventive and successful,” regional CA channels manager, Chris Wilson, said.
