SonicWALL hosting internet security seminars to raise customers' awareness of pressing security issues

 • 01 September, 2004 16:12

Sydney. September 1, 2004 - SonicWALL Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL), a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions, today announced that it will conduct a series of seminars in late September aimed at providing leading advice and counsel to customers regarding prevailing internet security issues.

Aptly named SonicWALL’s RISK Seminars - Raise Internet Security Knowledge – these non-product specific seminars will move the focus beyond technology itself, to instead consider the real threats small to medium sized networks face today, from outright attacks to simple user naiveté.

Specifically, the seminars will examine the increased quantity and sophistication of cyber attacks, the four common types of threat scenarios in which networks are exposed, how to detect and prevent intrusion attacks and what steps are required to prevent such attacks. Importantly they’ll highlight to customers just why their companies remain a target, despite their belief that they’re safe or immune from such threats.

Tim Dickinson, Regional Sales Manager for Australia, New Zealand and Oceania said companies are desperate for up to the minute information on how best to both detect and prevent internet security attacks while also ensuring they maintain the up-time of their secure networks at all times to optimize their employee’s productivity.

“Our customers are seeking advice that goes well beyond simply having an IT solution in place”, said Dickinson. “They want to know how to use their security solution to enhance their management of processes. This is becoming critically important as more and more work places are becoming increasingly mobile and are using wireless technologies”.

“Now more than ever before companies are experiencing increasingly sophisticated attacks on their networks and they need as much information and educational support as possible to ensure they are effectively protected. And it isn’t just about external attacks – internal attacks from their employees pose ever-present risks to their networks. It is critical that our customers are fully aware of just how breaches can occur”.

Daniel Lee, Managing Director of Lan1 – one of SonicWALL’s key Australian’s distributors reiterated the importance of information sharing in the network security space.

“Network security is continually evolving as the source and nature of risks is forever changing. As well as offering customers state of the market security products and services, it is equally important we provide leading security advice and support. These non product specific seminars will help make the world of difference in this respect.

Hosted by Lan1, seminars will be held in Victoria, September 8th and 9th, NSW September 9th, 10th, 11th, WA September 20th and TAS September 23rd.
