Software provider SunSoft has signed Mitsui as an authorised support provider (ASP) for its complete product range. Mitsui, which was appointed a SunSoft distributor in July 1995, will now provide SunSoft product support and maintenance, including distribution of software patches and supply of automatic software upgrade licences. Mitsui joins Sun Service, Computervision and Opentec as SunSoft ASPs.
"Signing Mitsui allows us to streamline our channel," said Gil Thew, managing director of SunSoft Pacific. "Customers will benefit from the agreement through better lines of support and more effective distribution of upgrades."
Mitsui managing director John Durbin says his firm is taking on additional staff in order to efficiently service SunSoft products and customers. It is expected much of Mitsui's support work will centre around Solaris, SunSoft's 32-bit operating environment.
