Melbourne-based HarTec (formerly Hardie Technologies) now distributes 3Com's range of networking products. According to John Halliwell, managing director of 3Com Australia and New Zealand, the partnership will increase 3Com's market penetration throughout Australia.
HarTec MD Kevin McDonnell said the 3Com product range expands his company's portfolio of network communications products. "Prior to this agreement, we only sold some products in the physical layer. The 3Com range fills out our capabilities and we can now provide a complete network solution," he said.
With the recent introduction of 3Com's OfficeConnect integrated suite of networking products, the company believes it has extended its reach into the small business networking arena and unveiled new value-added business opportunities for reseller channels.
According to the 3Com's vice-president of marketing, Janice Roberts, the products have been designed to be easily marketed, supported, expanded and enhanced with value-added services.
3Com sources say OfficeConnect is an integrated suite of compact, quickly installed, easily administered and affordable computer networking products for the small office environment. The family of products consists of video cassette-sized, stackable components that can be mixed and matched to provide a wide variety of networking services. Products include Ethernet hubs, printer server, fax server, and an integrated digital services network bridge/router.
