Memorex Telex is set to become the first Australian-based company to receive Cisco Gold certification under the network vendor's new accreditation scheme.
Memorex telex previously held Cisco's Gold Plus accreditation level, but under the new two-level scheme Gold is the highest level above Silver.
Memorex Telex marketing director Brett Harris said he was still waiting for official confirmation, but expects word from Cisco this week. He says the new certification will bring a number of benefits. "In terms of talking to our customers they can now be confident that we are expert in the Cisco area, and have all the skills to design, implement and support Cisco networks."
Harris said that Memorex telex will receive better pricing as a result of making the accreditation, but added: "It's more to do with customer things, in terms of them knowing that we are expert and recognised by Cisco."
As a Gold reseller Memorex Telex has to be able to provide full 24 x 7 service coverage, on-site service employ four Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineers, and have an in-house laboratory for preconfiguration and simulation. A number of other former Gold Plus members are likely to qualify for the new rating, including Datacraft, Scitec, and Cray.
