Distribution round-up: Intel, Apple and Seagate

Distribution round-up: Intel, Apple and Seagate

A number of distribution changes are afoot in the IT community. Intel, Apple and Seagate have all altered their distribution models in an effort to secure market share in what some industry watchers say is an increasingly stratified market.

Intel has struck a deal with Brisbane-based Q*Soft to distribute its line of networking products, including the LANDesk and Fast Ethernet ranges.

Q*Soft managing director Douglas Heath told ARN the addition of Intel is "in keeping with our goal of distributing flagship products: Microsoft, Compaq, Epson, Intel," he said. "These are the kinds of vendors with whom we want to work." Heath says Q*Soft may move to distribute Intel processors "if the market demands it".

Apple has appointed PC Wholesale to distribute its entire range of products in Victoria and Tasmania. The move follows recent appointments of KH Distribution in Queensland and Tecstream Australia in WA. Tech Pacific remains Apple's national distributor.

Seagate has appointed ACA Pacific to distribute its new range of desktop management products, the Desktop Management Suite.
