Catalogue retailer swallows CommsWare

US-based Micro Warehouse acquired Brisbane company CommsWare Australia, a data communications and network marketer, in mid-February.

Micro Warehouse, a catalogue retailer carrying microcomputer hardware and software products for PCs and Macintosh computers, trades as MacWarehouse in Sydney.

According to a spokesperson for Micro Warehouse, the acquisition of CommsWare is central to its strategy to expand its Wintel and data communications business in Aust- ralia. CommsWare will now operate as CommsWare/Datacom Warehouse.

Micro Warehouse will relocate its MacWarehouse business to Brisbane in the second quarter, which will operate under the direction of general manager CommsWare Tony Jamieson.
