Massive opportunities in Asia are there for the taking, Raphael Tan, Lotus' vice president for Asia/Pacific, told the PartnerConnect '97 conference.
Lotus is working hard to team-up Australian partners which products might be well suited to the Asian market with Asian business partners, Tan said.
"Australia has a tremendous amount of intellectual capital. That's what Asia is looking for - not financial investment," Tan said.
"It's very hard to get talented IT people in Asia to stay in one place for very long, because there are so many opportunities opening up there. So if they can get a more stable source of intellectual capital from outside, they will."
Tan said as well as the PartnerConnect conference - which for the first time included Asian partners - Lotus was helping Australian companies into Asia with an informal program which aimed to marry compatible partners.
Fishtech has already been a benefactor of this program and is now ready to expand its business to take in the Asian opportunity.
