Samsung expands ties with Cellnet to include phone distribution

SYDNEY, 3 September 2004: Samsung has announced the appointment of Cellnet as a major distributor of its mobile handsets.

Samsung is currently the world’s third largest player in the handset market with a 12% global market share, and is focussed on increasing this percentage through the expansion of its existing mobile distribution channel.

In July 2004, Cellnet was chosen as Samsung’s master distributor for its mobile accessories. The successes of this deal lead to the expansion of the association to include mobile handsets to provide an extensive portfolio for resellers to draw on.

Cellnet is one of Australia and New Zealand’s leading distributors of telecommunications and IT equipment to the reseller community and has the experience and infrastructure needed to meet large-volume demands.

“We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Cellnet. The addition of Samsung mobile phones to the existing accessories portfolio, will give Cellnet’s customers access to a greater range of our products, and is a partnership that we believe will be enormously beneficial in our goal to expand our already increasing market share.” said Josh Delgado, General Manager, Telecommunications Division, Samsung.

Samsung and Cellnet’s new partnership will compliment existing handset distribution rights with T.Choice and Roadhound.
