Hitachi has announced its entry into the PC market in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia with the launch of its LCD Desktop 310 series and Notebook 270 series.
In what is claimed to be a first for a Japanese PC manufacturer, Hitachi's PC offerings are to be assembled by a channel assembly partner, Singapore-based GES Group. Its subsidiary, Digiland, will be responsible for marketing and distribution in the region.
Digiland Australia managing director Laurie Carmichael said: "We're looking forward to selling the Hitachi product, and expect to have stock available within the next week."
The Hitachi LCD desktop PC incorporates the monitor and CPU in a single unit, and has a depth of 190mm.
Pricing for the LCD Desktop 310 PCs starts from $3995 and the Notebook 270 series from $3495 (excluding tax).
