Hitachi Data Systems appoints solution services and support director for Australia and New Zealand

<p>HITACHI DATA SYSTEMS APPOINTS SOLUTION SERVICES AND SUPPORT DIRECTOR FOR AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND</p>
<p>Sydney, AUSTRALIA – December 11, 2003 – Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), has promoted Michael Cunningham to be the new Director for Solution Services and Support for Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>Mr Cunningham was the company’s National Systems Engineering Manager in Melbourne, Victoria prior to this appointment. He will be based in the Melbourne office and will report directly to Mr Michael Cremen, General Manager of Hitachi Data Systems Australia/New Zealand.</p>
<p>He will be responsible for driving Hitachi Data Systems’ services vision and direction in Australia and New Zealand which includes the Global Solution Services Division, the Global Education Division that delivers customer and channel training and the Customer Support Division. Mr Cunningham will retain his National Systems Engineer Management portfolio in this new position. In addition, he will also be responsible for ensuring the growth of Hitachi Data Systems’ solution and services business and maintaining the standards for support services to customers. Mr Cunningham will work with the company’s sales and pre-sales teams on new business opportunities, planning and resource management activities for projects.</p>
<p>Commenting on the appointment, Mr Cremen said, “Hitachi Data Systems is pleased to have Michael Cunningham lead our Global Solution Services division in Australia and New Zealand. His knowledge and experience in the IT and storage industry will help strengthen our relationship with key customers and bring new clients to our company.”</p>
<p>Mr Cunningham has held technical and consulting roles for eighteen years in companies like Coles Myer, Royal Australian Air Force, Computer Associates and other storage vendors.</p>
