Toshiba has moved ahead in the portable computer marketplace, with a range of new models. Among these is what it calls the world's smallest Win95 computer, the Libretto 50CT. This "mini notebook" looks more like a personal organiser, yet packs the power of a full notebook, including colour screen in a featherweight 850g.
It has a 75MHz Pentium processor, 770Mb hard disk, 16Mb EDO RAM and SoundBlaster compatible sound and speaker.
Battery life is estimated at two hours (double with the high capacity battery), and the screen is 6.1in colour TFT active matrix. It has an 80-key keyboard and Accupoint pointing device.
There is also a Type II PC Card and the I/O adapter gives access to a full range of external devices. Stock will be available in July, at an RRP of $3795.
