Network troubleshooting expert Network General is opening itself up to resellers once more, appointing Scitec and Anixter as local resellers for its network management strategies and solutions.
General manager Lori Stivelman said Network General will look to appoint two or three resellers in each state, to deliver services based around the vendor's commitment to the concept of "total network visibility".
Stivelman says the demand from customers for network performance analysis services means that increasing the company's reach through third parties is essential.
"We don't have the feet on the streets to do it," she said. "Demand is so large now, so why not partner?
"And every one of the resellers that we've talked to has been really excited to embrace this."
The services on offer through the channel comprise two separate components; the Network Enterprise Performance Check and the Network Troubleshooting Service. The first consists of network performance and availability checks performed with Network General's Sniffer products.
The latter is an emergency troubleshooting service that guarantees access customers priority access to Network General's Certified Network Experts to help solve networking problems. It can be purchased in blocks of either 20 or 100 hours.
In the case of Scitec, the company had already been using Network General's Sniffer products to capture network data. Under the Performance Check service, Scitec can now feed that data back to a Network Support Centre for interpretation and analysis. This information is returned to the reseller in the form of a report, which can be used to implement the necessary solutions for the customer.
To enter into the arrangement with Network General, Stivelman says Scitec had to satisfy a number of requirements, such as a commitment to training and demonstration equipment. "It's a partnership," she said. "We're here to support them, but they need to work with us also."
