SCSI Corporation has partnered with Canon, Yamaha and IMR to produce a low- cost CD-ROM imaging solution aimed at organisations that want to move the archiving of documents in-house.
The Scan2CD Gold Duplex (two sides at once) bundle includes a Canon dr-3020 duplex scanner, a Yamaha 4x CD recorder and IMR's Scan2CD Gold archiving software.
"The package provides the customer with everything to archive any document - whether paper, e-mail or fax - onto CD-ROM," said Robert Ek, general manager of SCSI Corporation.
"For security conscious businesses, this solution provides total control of company information as all archiving can be carried out in-house in a fast and economic manner," Ek said.
The key to the package is IMR's Alchemy archival database search engine. This allows fast retrieval of documents from the CD-ROM that were scanned using OCR or dragged and dropped from File Manager or Explorer.
Scan2CD Gold allows data to be organised via a drag and drop interface that indexes and compresses the data before writing it to the CD-ROM using the Yamaha recorder.
Scan2CD also supports CD-SPAN to store multi-gigabyte databases across multiple CDs.
Working with the Canon scanner, Scan2CD can process A4 or B4 documents at up to 44 pages per minute in double-sided mode.
Minimum system requirements are 8Mb of RAM, 8Mb of hard disk space for the CD buffer plus 60Mb per CD index; SVGA 640 x 480 and 256 colours for images (16 colours for text).
RRP for the bundle including tax is $15,384.
