Marketing Results takes on IBM software

Specialist retail distributor Marketing Results is to take on distribution of IBM's software range, as part of that vendor's plan to increase its sales in the volume market.

Marketing Results managing director Rod Orrick said his company will distribute products such as IBM's voice recognition, antivirus and software development tools. It will not, however, distribute the Lotus range of products.

Orrick said Marketing Results has already been distributing IBM PC Company's Options range in the retail arena.

IBM's software channels manager, Julie Yardley, said Marketing Results will provide healthy competition for IBM's other distributors in the retail channel.

"Our thought process is not just distribution, it's always been how do we push the product through the chain, as opposed to how do we just sell it to the chain.

"We've got demonstrators in Brisbane, Sydney and Victoria, and we're running probably seven demonstrators every weekend in stores right around the country."

Orrick said Marketing Results will add three staff to assist supporting the products.
