Siemens Nixdorf Information Systems (SNIS) has outsourced its entire marketing services operation in a move unlikely to be followed by many other major vendors.
Blackie McDonald, a corporate and marketing communications firm, has taken over SNIS's marketing operations which cover development and implementation of marketing strategies for the vendor, public relations and participation in exhibitions.
Jennie McDonald, principal of Blackie McDonald, said it was the first time the com-pany had taken on such a role for a major vendor with a long-established and strong presence in Australia.
"We have acted as the virtual marketing arm for overseas vendors with no or very little presence in the local market," said McDonald. "But this move with SNIS is a first for us on that scale."
McDonald said the move would allow SNIS to concentrate on its core business of providing IT solutions.
"This type of outsourcing depends on the company, it's not a blanket solution for every IT vendor's marketing," she added.
No details of the value of the contract to Blackie McDonald were revealed but the firm has two full-time staff assigned to the account.
