SYDNEY - Micrografx has entered into a partnership with merchandising services firm Companies Under Growth, to help boost its sales and marketing in the SOHO market.
Micrografx's marketing manager, Linda Birchall, said the relationship was struck up due to the realisation that Micrografx alone simply couldn't keep close tabs on its retailers.
"We're a very small office in Australia, there are only five of us here, and there's no way we can cover that many stores," said Birchall.
"We were concerned that the right information wasn't getting out to every one. We were relying on our distributors a lot, and they've got so many other vendors. So we depend on them (Companies Under Growth) to check things out for us, and they do."
Birchall said when Companies Under Growth staff enter the retailers to all intents and purposes they are Micrografx representatives. The company is responsible for such activities as releasing new products, and researching product ranges, releasing information, coordinating training and promotions, and building relationships.
Birchill said the relationship also recognises the changing nature of the IT retailing market. "Harvey Norman was a monopoly for so long, but OfficeWorks are now coming up to them a bit.
"But it's not just purely for making the stock look pretty, it's actually for us being able to have a really clear picture of what's happening out there with our products."
