Microsoft in the US is set to launch a reseller program emulating Microsoft Australia's own Sales Partner Program.
Microsoft is hoping to draw 150,000 resellers and consultants in the US into the program, dubbed Microsoft Direct Access (MDA), through 1000 events to be held in 120 US cities.
The new channel strategy is aimed to attract small VARs in an effort to boost small business customers.
Participants in the program will be given the title "Value Added Providers" and will be able to buy an "MDA Action Pack" for $US295, offering a mix of products, tools, training and support.
MDA will have many of the components of the six-year-old Australian Sales Partner Program, said Nabeel Youakim, director of Micro-soft Australia's Organisations Customer Unit.
