Compaq has formed Compaq Capital (a company jointly owned by US Compaq Capital and Leasetec, a KeyCorp subsidiary). It will provide equipment leasing and financing for Compaq commercial customers. The leasing deal will cover Compaq's entire product set of PCs and low and high-end servers from its Tandem acquisition. Compaq Capital will open its doors next week and ARN will have the story.
SunSoft has dropped its long-time distributor, Mitsui, in favour of i.t.connXions. A Mitsui spokesperson said he was "surprised and disappointed" by SunSoft's decision.

If you see some HP folk tightening belts this week, there's a good reason. ARN has learned it lost a $700,000 deal last week because a product didn't meet benchmark tests. Apparently a major HP sales exec lost his job because of it. To add insult to injury, the contract was given to Digital.
