Digital office imaging equipment provider Ricoh has set its sights on dramatically boosting its presence in Australia.
Having scaled the heights of the very competitive Japanese market for over 20 years, Ricoh has decided that its marketing within Australian needs to be far more aggressive than it has been. Already one of Australia's leading players in the facsimile and copier market, Ricoh's aim is to substantially increase its market share in the next two years.
"We have increased our marketing in the region of 150 per cent," said Nigel Shepherd, managing director of Ricoh Office Automation.
"Also, we have made a considerable commitment to the areas of customer and product support.
"We have strengthened our sales force and extended our distribution network to include a direct sales branch in every state, plus a Ricoh Business exclusive franchise network and over 90 dealers to provide regional support," Shepherd said.
Buoyed by an early adoptive Australian market, Shepherd believes that Ricoh's chances of success in Australia lie within the fields of digital, or multifunctional, office equipment.
"In terms of digital sales, we are the most progressive country in the Asia-Pacific region, with the exception of Japan, of course," he said.
