In recognition of research showing that the fastest growth in Internet connectivity is in the small business sector, and also that nearly 70 per cent of those small businesses are not yet networked, Intel has released a new range of kit aimed squarely at that market.
With the brand name Intel InBusiness, the range of snap together hubs, routers and switches are aggressively priced and dead-easy to connect, both to the Internet and to each other. The range comprises a 5 or 8-port ethernet hub, a 4- or 8-port Fast Ethernet hub, an 8-port switch with 100Base-TX uplink, and an Internet station that allows all users on the network to dial-out to an ISP as well as having a second slot for shared faxing.
Ranging in recommended retail price from $137 to $1573, the new products have been designed from the ground up for the small business owner who has limits on their time, technical expertise and office space. Each product is about the size of a VHS video cassette and can sit vertically or horizontally on any spare bookshelf space.
Intel has also brokered special deals for small business with ISPs AT&T, Big Pond and Magna Data to complete the Internet solution.
