Lexmark has launched a new repair program in partnership with current reseller and service agent Upstream, which promises to deliver "unprecedented" levels of service to customers.
Initially available for inkjet printers, LexExpress offers telephone support as well as advance replacement for printers that need repairs. Melbourne-based Upstream is a Lexmark reseller and service agent for inkjet printers. The scheme covers all capital cities, major and minor towns as well as remote country locations.
Lexmark services administration manager, Jenny Bailey, said the service was free for customers with products under warranty or contract. All other customers pay a fixed fee of $199 for a replacement printer.
Bailey said the response had been favourable, with the centre taking about 20 calls per day in the eight months the program had been operating.
While the service stands to potentially alienate existing Lexmark service agents, Bailey said that wouldn't be the case. She said inkjet printers were a new line for Lexmark, and many resellers were "not fussed" on servicing those machines.
The service is available from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
