Crocodile viewing, cane toad kissing and a rip roaring game of Survivor, were among the highlights of the Quantum Alliance Partner Summit 2004, held over three days in Port Douglas, and attended by 40 resellers and two end-users from Australia, NZ, Singapore, Malaysia and India.
As part of the conference, partners attended seminars which concentrated on the products offered by Quantum for the backup and archive business following the launch of the PX720 and the SDLT 600 over the past year. The company also dished out information on super tape, dubbed DLTice, which offers Worm archive capabilities.
DLTice provides customers with a super drive that can use standard media for both traditional backup and archive — important for businesses needing to comply with the data storage requirements of tough new reporting standards and compliance laws. The company also provided information on the partner program, Quantum Alliance, and details of the upcoming partner-related launches, such as Quantum Marketplace, an online marketplace designed for use by VARs, distributors and Quantum sales.
During the summit, partner awards were presented to Sushil Gajwani, of ACA Pacific, for the Best Distributor of the Year, and Ross Harper, of Hitachi Data Systems, for the Best Reseller of the Year.
