At last week's PC IT 98 show in Sydney, Kyocera released its first colour laser printer for networks, the FS-5800C. The printer uses a 100MHz PowerPC 6033 processor and has a print speed of 14ppm for black documents, 4.7ppm for 3-colour documents and 3.5ppm for 4-colour documents.
Officials said the printer is capable of 1200 x 1200dpi and comes with 8MB of RAM. There is a 250-sheet paper cassette, 100-sheet multipurpose tray and optional 80-sheet transparency cassette.
Kyocera claims it is possible to remotely control the FS-5800C using Kyocera PrintMonitor (KPM), via either the parallel, serial or network interface. The KPM control panel provides fault information to help network administrators with printer problems.
The FS-5800C comes with a one-year on-site warranty and is priced at $5999 RRP.
