Compaq aims new Armadas at small businesses

Compaq Computer has taken aim at small businesses with the release of a new Armada line and two additional models in the Armada 1500 line.

The first two models in the Armada SB family are the 5233DMT and the 5200DM. Both models feature Microsoft Office 97 Small Business Edition, Norton Anti-Virus 4.0, a 20x CD-ROM, a K56flex modem, 32MB of RAM, an integrated AC adapter and a USB port.

The 5233DMT features Intel's 233MHz Pentium processor with MMX, a 4GB Smart hard drive, a 12.1in colour TFT SVGA display and a lithium ion battery. It is now available in the US and Europe, and sells for $US3599.

The 5200DM includes a 200MHz Pentium processor with MMX, a 3.2GB Smart hard drive, a 12.1in CSTN SVGA display and a nickel metal hydride battery.

Compaq also added the 1598DMT and the 1571DM to its 1500 line. Both new models include a 20x CD-ROM drive, 32MB of RAM, a K56flex modem, an integrated AC adapter and a lithium ion battery.

The 1598DMT features a 266MHz Pentium processor with MMX, a 4GB Smart hard drive, a USB port, and a 13.3in CTFT display. The 1571DM features a 200MHz Pentium processor with MMX, a USB port, a 3.2GB Smart hard drive and a 12.1in CSTN SVGA screen.
