NRMA hits upgrade road

NRMA is embarking on an aggressive multimillion-dollar campaign to upgrade its IT infrastructure and systems in order to restore competitive advantage and achieve 2000 compliance.

The company has just awarded a $12.5 million contract to Hewlett-Packard to provide 1500 Intel-based workstations for NRMA's branches and call centres by the end of 1998.

And the car, home and financial services provider has also just gone live, running five of its personal line products on a new mission-critical mainframe application to achieve 2000 compliance.

Mike Errington, NRMA's general manager, information services, said despite spending more than $50 million on IT maintenance and services last year, NRMA is further boosting its investment this year.
