Network computing storage provider StorageTek has unveiled its new OPENstorage family of data storage solutions. Sylvia Summers, StorageTek's worldwide vice president and general manager of StorageTek's multiplatform solutions group, was on hand to introduce the new solutions designed for Windows NT in Sydney last week.
In what StorageTek perceives as a unique feature, OPENstorage is designed specifically for use with clustered Windows NT servers. OPENstorage provides NT users with maximum data availability and protection, together with a growth path able to keep pace with the increase in data volumes typical on NT servers.
StorageTek claims that the OPENstorage system provides flexibility in attaching Windows NT platforms and configurations, providing the modularity and scalability needed as Windows NT users grow their storage requirements.
"StorageTek is providing our customers with the blueprint for the future of Windows NT storage," said Sylvia Summers.
The family of products is made up of three components. The first is the OPENstorage 9153 disk product, designed specifically to support Windows NT clusters. The second is OPENstack, a combination of the new OPENstorage 9153 disk product and the 9730 automated tape library, the first purpose-built storage solution for high-end clustered Windows NT systems.
Lastly is NetSentry Remote, an enterprise scalable, remote access product for providing a complete turnkey secure solution for mobile and telecommuting information workers.
