Gateway chief moves on

After three and a half years at the helm of Gateway Australasia, managing director Peter Lees has left the company for personal reasons.

According to Bernice Smith, human resources manager, Lees gave notice of his resignation more than two months ago, at which time he and the company agreed that his departure date would be at the end of the quarter. Smith indicated that Lees' reason for leaving was to spend more time with his family and pursue other business interests.

She said that an executive recruitment search has been started for his replacement, and the acting MD is Wei Leong Chan, senior vice president of business strategy for Gateway Asia Pacific. Describing Lees as being instrumental in the company's success, Smith said: "Gateway appreciates the contribution he has made to the success of the business."

At the start of the year, Lees indicated his support for Gateway's alliance with the channel, describing Gateway Associates as his favourite program.
