Hot on the trail of the renewed demand for Macintosh software incited by the launch of Apple's iMac, software utilities publisher Symantec has released Norton Utilities for Macintosh 4.0.
Boxed as a $149 install or as a $79 upgrade, all utilities in Version 4.0 are PowerPC native and are therefore compatible with Apple's new Mac OS Extended Format HFS+, which is supported by the iMac product that has been selling up a storm since its launch in September. The product will also operate under the preceding Macintosh 8.5 operating system.
Meanwhile, Symantec has also recently advised consumers that over 65 per cent of online update services have been captured by Norton Web Services. Symantec claims this to be the best place for downloading patches for correcting long file name security issues which have emerged for both Microsoft Outlook and Netscape Communicator.
