Things have been happening in the wake of Mitsui's winding down in Australia. While some products are being picked up by other distributors, ARN has learned that former Mitsui boss David Wallis is set to open a new, full-service distributor, and has retained master distribution for Quark products.
Wallis declined to comment on this matter, or about the fate of any other products. ARN understands from Quark and other sources that Wallis' new company will be much smaller than Mitsui (fewer than 10 employees) but will offer full support on Quark products. The company is also expected to pick up a modest range of other products.
In the meantime, resellers can order Quark from secondary distributor Xclusive Software (phone (02) 9975 5855).
Wallis told ARN that other products were a matter for vendors to discuss, and all existing service and warranty agreements would be honoured by the new distributors.
CHA is in discussions with QMS and FirmWare Design has added the FreeHand Graphics Studio to its existing range of MacroMedia products. Mitsubishi has decided to distribute its products directly to resellers.
