EPSON launches PC-free 802.11g WiFi enabled projector models

 • 07 September, 2004 08:42

EPSON introduces high speed presentation firepower for corporate pitches with the release of two new projectors that are 802.11g WiFi slick, streaming MPEG capable and PC free.

The EMP-745 and EMP-835 are the world's first projectors with internal 802.11g WiFi technology giving frame display rates up to two to five times faster than 802.11b, coupled with EPSON's unique proprietary compression algorithm that allows faster streaming of MPEG content using either the 802.11b or 802.11g standard.

"As customers expect from the world leader in data projectors, EPSON is the first to introduce internal 802.11g wireless functionality in its projector range, enhancing our most popular corporate projectors with features that free them from their leash to PCs and video content players," EPSON Australia's Business Manager - Projectors, Bruce Bealby said.

"The power and versatility of these projectors takes business presentation and display to new levels of speed and sophistication in a range of different environments. They are the only projectors to offer wireless compatibility with Apple's Keynote software, and they accept high-resolution jpeg images or streaming MPEG video wirelessly, from USB memory devices, including thumb drives and digital cameras, or a PCMCIA card," Mr Bealby said.

The EMP-745 and EMP-835 incorporate the standard connection and security features available with 802.11g, such as Access Point or Peer to Peer connection, and are the only projectors to offer both LEAP authentication and WEP/WPA protocols for secure, encrypted wireless networking.

At just 1.8kg and with brightness up to 2500 ANSI Lumens, the EMP-745 is the lightest and brightest in its corporate class - it'll go anywhere and deliver superb quality, adding professional panache and punch to any presentation.

"The EMP-745 is ideal for those always on the move, professionals who use their creativity and flair to present ideas and concepts to colleagues and clients - professional photographers, graphic designers, advertising account managers, fashion designers, digital artists, marketing directors, corporate trainers, and so on," Mr Bealby said.

The EMP-835 sets a new standard of ease of use and performance for corporate projectors in its class, with brightness of up to 3000 ANSI Lumens, 600:1 contrast ratio and EPSON's Quick Set Up function that produces a ready to present image with a single button in under 20 seconds.

"The EMP-835 is a powerful and efficient display device designed for a wide range of corporate presentation situations, accepting content wirelessly from the business network and delivering superb brightness, quality, versatility and value. EPSON's advanced networking technologies feature automatic email notification of projector problems, remote monitoring and single PC control over multiple LAN-connected projectors," Mr Bealby said.

Both the EMP-745 and EMP-835 along with their wired versions, the EMP-740 and EMP-830, also have an array of traditional input options, including USB, S-video, and Audio-out.

The EMP-740 and EMP-830 have similar high performance specifications to the EMP-745 and EMP-835, but are not wireless enabled. And unlike other projectors that require a cooling down period before being turned off and unplugged, these projectors can be safely turned off immediately, with no waiting around for the projector to cool down.

All four projectors use EPSON's reliable patented 3LCD technology to project brighter, sharper images that are easy on the eyes with natural, faithfully reproduced colours, smooth uninterrupted motion and no rainbow effects, even in fast motion video sequences.

And with no moving parts in the core image projection area and now with no need for wired connections that limit flexibility, EPSON EMP-745 and EMP-835 projectors provide high reliability in robust office work areas.

These projectors are available now through EPSON AV dealers at expected retail prices of: EMP-830 - $6099; EMP-835 - $6899; EMP-740 - $4399; and EMP-745 - $4799. Prices include GST.
