Hewlett-Packard's direct-selling Web venture, Online Store, is scheduled to kick off this week after system testing prolonged its launch, according to a company official.
"HP is doing some customer scenario simulations to ensure that everything is 100 per cent," the spokesperson said.
At the time of going to press, HP was expected to open for direct business on the Internet on July 7. Sources close to HP revealed there will be a public launch involving a Sydney FM breakfast radio program.
The details of the Online Store have been withheld by the vendor until it is launched, but it has already been established that, for the initial trial, all orders will be fulfilled by HP's biggest reseller partner, Leading Solutions.
According to the HP spokesperson, everything is on track and they are "most excited about the launch of Online Store".
