Telecommunications carrier Davnet yesterday announced that in October it will make a bid to compete with the established hierarchy by launching a local and national telephone service.
The company aims to offer local, STD, IDD and fixed-to-mobile call services using the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) preselection code of 1464.
Davnet's managing director, Stephen Moignard, indicated the service will benefit both home and business customers.
"Our service will offer highly competitive rates and, along with being granted 40,000 local telephone numbers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, this represents the first step in providing local telephone services, local dial-up and metropolitan region virtual private networks across the nation," he said in a press statement.
The company recently extended its national presence with the takeover of QAI Australia.
