Oracle prepares customers for Y2K - for free

Oracle customers who are using old versions of Oracle databases and other software will have an opportunity to upgrade its old non-Y2K-compliant products for free, as long as they do it before the 30th of April 1999.

Called Oracle Upgrade 2000, this limited-time offer will allow customers to replace Oracle 7.3.3 and earlier versions of unsupported software with fully compliant products such as Oracle 8i.

"Oracle is actively helping our customers prepare for Y2K," Randy Baker, Oracle's executive vice president for support and education services, said.

"With the Oracle Upgrade 2000 program, Oracle customers will be able to upgrade their older Oracle technology to Y2K compliant software quickly and easily."

Both product upgrades and migration support services will be provided at no cost to customers.
