Creative Pacific has been trying to keep it quiet, but ARN has learned the distributor is about to unveil a new line of built-to-order PCs specifically aimed at enhanced gaming and home entertainment. Under the moniker of "'Blaster' PCs", the systems will initially be exclusive to Harvey-Norman, before becoming broadly available to retailers after an undisclosed period of time.
Sources from within Creative Pacific told ARN on Friday that it has been trying to keep the program under wraps, but excitement about its potential had sprung leaks. Creative Pacific already distributes most of the components you would find in a serious gaming PC and have thus decided to use that range to help games-heads build units to their ultimate specifications.
After getting some casings specifically manufactured, the only parts CP needed to source externally for a system optimised for the latest, fastest and most dynamic games available were high-end monitors, processors (which will be 300MHz Pentium IIs at minimum) and RAM modules.
Pricing and expected reseller margins for the products are as yet unknown but it is believed they will be at the high end.
