There will be "a handful of first-tier integrators" that reach critical mass and pull right away from their competitors, offering across the board solutions, according to the Gartner findings.
To make this top-tier, Australian integrators must merge or be aquired by international giants looking to enter the Australian market.
"Those with foreign money behind them, so they can invest in the infrastructure they need, will have a big advantage," said Gartner senior analyst Mitch Radomir.
Already some integrators have acknowledged the tough times ahead and are hawking their companies to prospective buyers, Radomir claimed. Which is good timing because there are a number of big international players on the hunt for suitable acquisitions, he said.
