Apple has finally ended months of speculation and endless interviewing by announcing the appointment of Ben Bowley to the position of marketing director. Bowley is an Apple Australia veteran, having joined the company in 1989. His most recent position was as National AppleCentre manager, where he was responsible for the current implementation of the AppleCentre retail concept.
Bowley's appointment from a retail background underlines the importance Apple is attaching to the iMac, a machine designed to increase the company's market share in the consumer segment. The position of marketing director had been open since May, when Lars Marcher resigned for family reasons. Meanwhile, a few more desks have opened up in Frenchs Forest, with word reaching ARN that several more key executives have resigned. The executives in question asked not to be named in advance of an official announcement.
