Ardent Software, a global data management company and provider of data warehouse solutions, has announced a worldwide, multi-year OEM agreement with enterprise database vendor Informix Corporation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Informix will bundle Ardent's DataStage data extraction and transformation tool (ETT) with Decision Frontier, a comprehensive decision support environment announced at the Informix Worldwide User Conference.
This development follows recent strategic partner agreements with Sybase and Compaq/Digital.
DataStage is claimed to be unique among data warehousing tools because of its open, scaleable and extensible architecture. In addition, DataStage supports a variety of different platforms such as Windows NT, Sun Solaris, Digital Unix, HP/UX, IBM AIX, and DG/UX. This broad platform support, along with Ardent's worldwide presence in major countries, has been a key factor in forming these partnerships.
"Effective data extraction and transformation tools are critical to any successful data warehousing or data mart solution," said Trevor Gray, managing director of Ardent Software in the Asia Pacific region. "Because of DataStage's flexibility and extensibility, our partners are incorporating the tool into their product offering to deliver complete and unique warehousing solutions to fit their customers' needs. Conversely, partnering with these companies allows Ardent to expand the scope of DataStage by leveraging partner technologies and distribution channels."
