With Christmas plans now well and truly underway for retailers, Australia's leading distributors of software titles are now rolling out some of their biggest product announcements of the year. Dataflow's long-standing relationship with edutainment publisher Edmark continues at a rapid pace and it was pleased to announce this week some extensions to the popular Thinkin' Things and Thinkin' Science lines as well as a whole new category called Brain Bytes.
New to the Thinkin' Things series - which focuses on logic, communication, multi-tasking, prioritisation and other information-age skills is "Sky Island Mysteries", a problem-solving, critical thinking product designed for children aged from eight to 12.
Retailers can expect "Zap!", the second CD-ROM in the Thinkin' Science, to be a big seller this Christmas as parents look for titles with a good balance of fun and learning. "Zap!", which is also aimed at the eight to 12 age bracket, engages children as they discover physical and science topics such as light, sound and electricity through inquiry, observation and experimentation.
Additionally, a whole new line called Brain Bytes offers in-depth single-subject titles which teach crucial lessons to various age brackets in reading, maths and other subjects. For ages four to twelve, the first release of Brain Bytes includes six subject focused titles; Reading Roller Coaster, I Can Tell Time, My First Greeting Cards, Money Math, Galactic Multiplication and Division and Fraction Fireworks.
All these titles are targeted to specific subject areas and include a "Question and Answer Mode" for children that learn better in a structured or directed learning environment and an "Explore Mode" for those that benefit from having more control over their own learning.
