Lotus slices staff to streamline services

Lotus has sliced six per cent of its local workforce in an effort to streamline its services business.

After six months in the top job, managing director Peter Taylor has decided to integrate Lotus' support, education and consulting lines of business into a single organisation under the banner Lotus Services.

"I had a look at how we were operating and how we could be more efficient," Taylor told ARN yesterday.

"On the services side we had three separate lines of business and I decided we needed to bring them together into one operation.

"But as part of that reorganisation, we had to let some people go."

In total, 12 people across the company were immediately retrenched. Taylor said the restructure was "a one-off exercise" and going forward, he expects to again grow the local headcount from its current number of about 160.

David Bowie, who previously managed the consulting business, will head up Lotus Services.
