Outlining some of Acer's plans for 1999, managing director Patrick Lin announced yesterday that, as well as moving into a new site at Homebush, it will increase its sales and marketing capacity with a focus on the channel.
The new head office site, on which Lin said Acer had invested $13 million, includes office, warehousing and an assembly plant with a single-shift capacity for shipping 15,000 systems per month.
According to Acer marketing director, Charles Chung, the channel focus will be on making the internal sales and marketing support, and especially the Acer support centre more unified and accessible to its reseller partners.
This will include an upgrade to its SABEL customer relationships management program.
The announcement was also coupled with the unveiling of Acer's latest "desktop replacement performance notebook PC," the Travelmate 720 series.
