In an industry dominated by international corporations, one Australian family company is surviving and delivering products with obvious market allure. Webster Publishing this week launched its Australian Sport Through Time multimedia reference CD-ROM which is sure to have considerable appeal to consumers from all sorts of retail outlets in the lead-up to Christmas.
The comprehensive multimedia record of Australian sporting history is an adaptation of the top-selling book of the same name and was developed by Webster Publishing and TECO Multimedia with financial support from Qantas and the Seven Network.
Delving right back into the pioneering of athletic endeavour in this country, it features hundreds of sporting icons, 45 minutes of video presentations, over 1000 photographs, sporting biographies, facts and quotes, sports trivia and a sporting quiz.
A bevy of Australian sporting greats were on hand at the Sydney launch to lend their endorsement to the product, including Olympic gold medallists Shane Gould, Dawn Fraser, Kevin Berry, Marjorie Jackson and Shirley Strickland and football legends like John Raper, Keith Holman and Ken Catchpole.
Australian Sport Through Time is being distributed both direct and through some of the larger box title resellers and will have an RRP of $69.95.
