The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) has formed a new Asia/Pacific sales and marketing region. According to the company, the for-mation of the new Asia/Pacific operational unit, previously part of Europe-International, will better serve both SCO's distribution and OEM customers in the region.
"Having a strong presence in Asia/Pacific is fundamental to our strategy," said Alok Mohan, SCO president and CEO. "With the acquisition of the Unix business from Novell, we need to have an organisation in place that can assure a close working relationship with computer manufacturers in Asia/Pacific as well as the large number of distributors and resellers of our Unix products."
Peter Laytham, marketing manager for SCO Australia, told Australian Reseller News that the most significant change will be more stringent accountability within SCO for any given customer. "Resellers will now expect much better service," he said, "due to the fact they will know exactly who their account representative within SCO will be."
Laytham added that the organisational changes will not have any effect on the channel structure as it currently stands.
