Network Associates' commitment to the channel has not been dulled by the fact that it launched its own professional services arm, officials said last week.
The professional services division will be "channel positive", according to Renee Matsuoka, Asia-Pacific professional services manager. It would "fill in the gaps" where smaller resellers don't have the expertise to provide the entire range of services needed, she said.
For integrators and larger resellers, Network Associates also unveiled its Strategic Services Partner program. These partners will be exclusively contracted and authorised by Network Associates to provide implementation services to customers.
For an investment of around $2000, partners receive training, dedicated support and access to marketing expertise.
Key resellers of products acquired by Network Associates - including those from Network General, Trusted Information Systems and Magic Solutions - have been able to fast-track their certification.
Five companies, including Softway and Data#3, have already entered the program, following completion of their fast-track training.
"With the training from NAI, we are up to speed with its product range and now have the knowledge and background to provide a high level of consultation, implementation and support to our customers," said Patrick O'Keeffe, national service desk solutions manager for Data#3.
Matsuoka claimed that virtually all leads that come to Network Associates' professional services group would come via its channel partners.
"It will be the case of partners coming to us saying we have sold this, we need help to implement it," she said.
"We now have the local in-house expertise to support our channel," she said.
