Tests by Microsoft last week are claimed to show that Windows NT 4.0 server's performance can be boosted to nearly a full 1Gb per second by a large-frame Ethernet technology, breaking through current performance limits.
Microsoft officials said they achieved 920Mbps throughput on a server using the AceNIC 180, a Gigabit Ethernet network interface card from Alteon, which also supplied the proprietary jumbo-frame technology.
