Brewer Lion Nathan has this month gone live with a new supply chain solution in six of its trans-Tasman plants.
Andersen Consulting has managed the 16-week implementation of the i2 Technologies Rhythm Demand Planner solution, which replaces a number of systems that were previously in operation across Lion Nathan's Australian and New Zealand operations.
The i2 product, which integrates sales and marketing, logistics, production and financial data, will enable multiple users to access information by location or product, according to officials.
Lion Nathan, which produces Tooheys, will also use the solution to improve forecasting, reduce inven-tories, and improve promotional planning.
Bob Easton, a senior manager with Andersen Consulting, told ARN the Lion Nathan win is Andersen's first in the local region using the i2 product.
"Andersen was responsible for the project but i2 were subcontracted to assist with the implementation," Easton said. "Lion Nathan is the first site we've done together here in Australasia, but there have been a number of others that the two organisations have worked on overseas."
Easton claims Andersen leveraged that overseas experience, particularly at a number of "massive" sites in the US, for the Lion Nathan implementation.
The project is likely to be extended to include the full i2 suite, Easton said, and Andersen also plans to extend its local partnership with i2 to include other corporate sites.
