Virtually every business has some sort of sensitive data on computer systems which is why the PC security issue is emerging as yet another potential cash cow for resellers. A new supply option for the Australian market comes from Czech Republic-based company Compelson Laboratories who are represented in Australia via start-up distributor, All PC Securities (APCS).
Whether it be revisiting old implementations or adding it as a component of current quotes and projects, market interest indicates VARs, systems integrators, enterprise solutions providers and other resellers in the channel should be milking security issues for all they are worth.
Alan Guillan, the national accounts manager for APCS, is looking for resellers who install PC systems into corporates as larger enterprises are the ones most likely to be adopting such technologies.
"The easiest time to put security in place is when new systems are being rolled out and we will be providing technical support and consulting assistance wherever required," said Guillan. "We are not going to just be moving boxes for Compelson as we firmly believe in value-adding.
"We have strong technical back-up and will be looking to partner with prominent resellers to help them find the right security solutions for their clients," he added.
Including software and smart card-based hardware products, Compelson's range pushes security well past passwords at log-on. Guillan told ARN the ability to store all PC and network authorisation-level security information on a smart card, also gives the opportunity for the one card and one password to be used for both building and PC access.
Products are available to provide high levels of protection against unwanted network log-ons and Internet or intranet hackers. Data encryption tools are included and there are even contingency features in place reducing the risk of lost cards while ease-of-management and extensive reporting capabilities assist administration.
