Data-Tech Software's new Digi-Till point-of-sale software suite offers a double opportunity to computer retailers and VARs, according to the Australian company's national reseller manager, Lance Shofer.
New from the developers, publishers and distributors of Mind Your Own Business (M.Y.O.B.) accounting software, the just-released Digi-Till is a point-of-sale (POS) software package claiming to transform the conventional cash register into a powerful retail business management tool. Not only capable of providing a POS solution, Digi-Till has broad application to all sorts of independent retailers and offers VARs the chance to add value to a sale through the hardware required to run it, training and associated business management tools.
Digi-Till is an Australian product that captures and records every transaction undertaken by a retail business. As well as running the hardware at a POS station, it accumulates and summarises information for retailers allowing them to develop customised reports on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis.
Shofer said Data-Tech would soon be putting together a list of VARs who can provide complete hardware packages that would be required to run the software. The company is actively recruiting interested resellers to add to the list it already has of businesses who are delivering complete digital POS retail solutions.
"Hardware such as docket printers, barcode scanners and cash drawers offer substantially more margin than PC components," said Shofer. "Being a multi-user system also means Digi-Till can grow with the business and easily be programmed for new staff."
Most data needing to be scrutinised in any retailing business, such as stock inventory, customer profiles, emp-loyee wages and/or commissions and suppliers for efficient management are handled by Digi-Till with Data-Tech claiming no accounting knowledge is needed.
Shofer pointed out the package did not include the hardware, just the software needed to run a digital point-of-sale system. He said all the components were easily obtainable and retailers would have no problem tracking them down.
"The release of Digi-Till forms part of Data-Tech's commitment to provide software systems addressing the day-to-day needs of Australia's business owners," said Shofer. "Digi-Till comes from the same people and has the same ease-of-use that made M.Y.O.B. Australia's biggest selling accounting software package and that will help it become popular in the market," he added.
According to Data-Tech, Digi-Till will link to M.Y.O.B. accounting software and other systems through an import/export capability while efficiencies are gained through efficient reporting and linking of data during checkout, return of goods and stock take.
Developed in Australia for Australian retailers, Digi-Till is a PC-based application with easily attainable minimum system requirements. With a recommended retail price of $999, it provides computer stores with the double opportunity to improve their own point-of-sale systems as well as selling the product to others.
