Giga study sees savings in move to Exchange

Microsoft at its user conference in Boston, cited a Giga Information Group study that indicates companies can reap big savings by moving off older, legacy-based e-mail systems and switching to Exchange server.

According to the study, companies can save about $US2400 per employee per year by moving off Lotus' cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail and switching to Exchange.

The savings are based on budgeted e-mail costs, indirect costs based on downtime, end-user peer support and productivity gains. The research firm polled 26 large companies for the results.
